As a matter of its diplomatic and natural responsibility, the Haliwa-Saponi Indian Tribe engages in government-to-government consultation with the branches, departments, agencies and subdivisions of the United States of America, including the States of the United States and their municipalities, especially when such entities are regulating development projects that may have adverse impacts on the Tribe’s ancestors, citizens, economy, environment, and cultural heritage.
We also engage with private companies directed by a government agency to coordinate consultation on its behalf, as well as project proponents, that are intentional about maintaining positive relationships with Indian tribal nations.
