The Haliwa-Saponi Tribal Council has extended the temporary closure on accepting new citizenship enrollment applications through Dec. 31, 2026.
No new enrollment applications will be accepted during this period. New applications are currently scheduled to be accepted beginning Jan. 1, 2027, unless otherwise modified by future action of Tribal Council.
This closure allows the Tribe to focus on processing the existing enrollment backlog and implementing the procedures established under Resolution 2026-09.
Current applicants do not need to reapply. Individuals with pending applications are encouraged to ensure the Enrollment Office has current mailing addresses, phone numbers and email addresses.
Updates will be provided through official Tribal communication channels.

The Tribal Council determines when the rolls are opened or closed. There are no exceptions to this requirement. The Enrollment Department is in the process of updating all it’s Tribal files. Over the course of the years, tribal members have moved and in turn received new addresses and phone numbers. We must keep these records up to date with this information for Federal Recognition and other Tribal Business.
